Q: Do I have to be present when the boat is dropped off?
A: No! As long as you provide clear instructions for the drop-off location and a signed rental agreement, we will deliver the boat directly to your location.
Q: Are lifejackets included?
A: Yes! Two adult large lifejackets come with each rental.
Q: How old do my children need to be to sail alone?
A: New York State does not have a specific age requirement for sailing unmotorized boats. Children of any age may sail, but they must wear a PFD at all times. Parents should supervise their children carefully due to other traffic on the Finger Lakes. Safety first—have fun!
Q: Do you provide a dolly for beach launch?
A: Yes! We provide Dynamic Dollies for easy launching and retrieval (we are authorized retailers for Dynamic Dollies and Racks). The boat must be stored on its dolly – never moored for long periods of time in the water – or dragged up on the beach.
Q: How can I extend my rental?
A: Simply email or call us to check availability for the additional days. If the boat is available, payment can be made securely via Square.
Q: What if the boat is damaged during my rental?
A: We will provide a complete list of replacement parts and costs so you can easily assess any damage for which you may be responsible.
Q: How can I see the Sunfish’s condition before my rental?
A: We provide an itemized list of existing wear and minor marks on the hull and other parts so you know exactly what to expect before your rental begins.
Q: Can anyone rent a Sunfish from Shoreline?
A: Two limiting factors may mean that you cannot rent a Sunfish. First – if your location does not have a beach – the boat cannot be safely stored and therefore cannot be rented. Second – Our Sunfish rentals are intended for individuals who already have basic sailing experience. While learning to sail is a wonderful goal, these boats are not suitable for first-time sailors to learn in safely. For the safety of our renters and the boats, we reserve the right to decline rentals if a renter does not demonstrate sufficient sailing proficiency.

Delivery Fee:
Cost is determined by mapping distance from Shoreline Sailboats to your location. Delivery is $1.00/mile for two round trips. Example: Your vacation house is 50 miles from Shoreline Sailboats. You would pay an additional $200 for delivery – (50 miles x 4) x $1.00/mile. Rent a Sunfish for three days and your total cost is $500. Split that cost a couple of ways and sail the heck out of that boat – and its a pretty inexpensive way to create priceless memories!
